Gioconda’s bridge.

Lo Spicchio is an ancient stone built farm-village dating to the end of 1600, situated near the ancient road linking the Valdarno and the Casentino, and the point where the river Arno changes its course and heads north.
The property covers an area of 15 hectares where the guests can see a great variety of colours: the dark green of cypress, the shadowy oaks, the immortal silver of olive groves and the green of vineyards which mature and finally turn red and gold each year in autumn.

Vittoria and Oscar, the English and French speaking owners, welcome you in an apartment for two on the ground floor, recently restored in the traditional way, using original materials; all the furniture is antique.
There is a living room with a kitchen corner fully equipped, a bedroom and a bathroom ..

Long walks in the woods are possible, not only near Lo Spicchio, but also in the pelerin’s itineraries as La Verna (St. Francis’ footsteps) and Camaldoli (the Camaldoli route) in the Casentino Valley.
But, if you desire, you can work in the farm with Oscar or discover old Tuscan and Italian recipes with a Vittoria’s cooking class. You can taste the wine, the oil and the other products of the farm.
Holidays at Lo Spicchio give the opportunity to join rest and culture, because its privileged position is at the same time in the country side and very close to Arezzo, one of the most important towns of art in Tuscany (with Piero della Francesca’s frescoes); Lo Spicchio is an ideal location for discovering many little towns of its valleys: Cortona, Anghiari, Sansepolcro and you can reach in a very short time Umbrian towns of historical interest: Città di Castello, Gubbio, Perugia, Assisi.
The owners offer you their services as expert guides.
